  Komplexbildner der allgemeinen Formel I, worin R1, R2, R3 und R4gleich oder verschieden sind und für H, COOH, C(O)NHR5, wobei R5H und C1-C4-Alkyl bedeutet, PO₃H₂, SO₃H und den Rest 3-Hydroxy-1-(R6)-4-[1H]pyridon-2-yl, wobei R6H und C1-C4-Alkyl bedeutet, stehen, mit der Maßgabe, daß mindestens einer der Reste R1, R2, R3 und R4 die Bedeutung 3-Hydroxy-1-(R6)-4-[1H]pyridon-2-yl mit R6 = H und C1-C4-Alkyl hat, Xfür eine Einfachbindung, (CH₂)m und NR7, wobei R7H, C1-C4-Alkyl und (CH₂)nR1 und m1 und 2 bedeuten, n,qfür ganze Zahlen von 0 bis 2, wobei n und q gleich oder verschieden sind und deren Summe mindestens 1 beträgt, und pfür eine ganze Zahl von 1 bis 3, aber nicht für 1, wenn X die Bedeutung NR7 hat, stehen und deren Salze mit organischen und anorganischen Basen und Säuren, eignen sich zur Herstellung von paramagnetischen Komplexen, die sich vorteilhaft als Kontrastmittel für die MR-Diagnostik einsetzen lassen.

  [EN] Disclosed are complexing agents of general formula (I), in which R1, R2, R3 and R4, which may be the same or different, are H, COOH, C(O)NHR5 (in which R5 is H or C1-C4 alkyl), PO3?H2?, SO3?H or the group 3-hydroxy-1-(R6)-4-[1H]pyridon-2-yl (in which R6 is H or C1?-C4? alkyl), with the proviso that at least one of the groups R1, R2, R3 and R4 is 3-hydroxy-1-(R6)-4-[1H]pyridon-2-yl with R6 = H or C1?-C4? alkyl; X is a single bond, (CH2?)m? or NR7 (in which R7 is H, C1?-C4? alkyl or (CH2?)n?R1 and m is 1 or 2); n and q, which may be the same or different, are whole numbers from 0 to 2 and their sum is at least 1; and p is a whole number from 1 to 3, but is not 1 if X is NR7. Such compounds, as well as their salts with organic and inorganic acids and bases, are suitable for use in the preparation of paramagnetic complexes which are good contrast agents in magnetic-resonance examinations.
