substrate scope and good functional group tolerance with high monosulfonylation selectivity. Besides arenes and heteroarenes, the reaction can also be extended to alkenes, providing diverse diaryl and alkylarylsulfones in high yields. Furthermore, a plausible Ni(I)/Ni(III) mechanism is outlined based on our experimental results and related precedents.

palladium-catalyzed electrochemical C–H bromination of benzamide derivatives under divided cells is developed, in which NH4Br serves as a brominating reagent and electrolyte. The protocol avoids the use of chemical oxidants and provides an alternative method for the synthesis of aryl bromides.

A novel cobalt-catalyzed C–H alkylation of arenes and olefins is achieved with (pyridin-2-yl)isopropyl amine as an N,N-bidentate directing group. Different linear, branched, and cyclic alkyl ethers were used as practical secondary alkylating reagents through cleavage of C(sp3)–O bond, providing an efficient approach to the synthesis of verstile o-alkylated arylamides and tetrasubstituted acrylamides

A direct cobalt-catalyzed oxidativecoupling between C(sp2)–H in unactivated benzamides and C(sp3)–H in simple alkanes, ethers and toluene derivatives was explored. This protocol achieves direct C–C formation without using alkyl or aryl halide surrogates and exhibits high practicality with ample substrate scope. The method provides a new way to construct linear and five- or six-membered ring moieties

A copper-catalyzed direct sulfonylation of C(sp2)–H bonds with sodiumsulfinates using a removable directing group is described. This reaction tolerates a wide range of functional groups, providing an efficient protocol for the synthesis of diverse aryl sulfones. Moreover, a series of 2,6-disubstituted benzamides could be synthesized via sequential C–Hfunctionalization.
