Allyl trichloroacetate and allyl 2,2-dichloropropionate, unlike allyl bromoacetate and allyl 2-bromopropionate, undergo cyclization into gamma-lactones in the presence of a Fe(CO)(5)-amide system. All these esters undergo reductive dehalogenation under the action of the Bu(n)(3)SnH-AIBN system.

A method for preparing a fluorinated organic compound (II) from an organic compound (I) comprising at least one nucleofugal group Nu, and also a preparation of different specific organic compounds, in particular a fluoro-methylpyrazole compound. The method comprises: a reaction, in the presence of water, of the organic compound (I) and at least one salt providing at least one fluoride anion; and a replacement of at least one nucleofugal group Nu of the compound (I) with a fluorine atom, in order to obtain the fluorinated organic compound (II).

A multi-component copolymer rubber consisting essentially of (A) 20 to 69.5% by weight of a cyanosubstituted alkyl (meth)acrylate, (B) 30 to 79.5% by weight of an alkyl acrylate, (C) 0.5 to 10% by weight of a crosslinkable monomer and (D) 0 to 10% by weight of other ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with (A), (B) and (C), excels in heat resistance, ozone resistance, sour gasoline resistance and sour gasohol resistance. These properties of said multi-component copolymer rubber can further be improved by incorporating into the copolymer rubber a crosslinking agent, a metal salt, a vinylidene fluoride polymer, a vinyl chloride resin or other multi-component copolymer rubber.
Racemic and optically active alkyl 2-chloropropionates are prepared by reacting the corresponding alkyl lactates with phosgene and decomposing the chloroformates so obtained in the presence of a tertiary base, preferably pyridine. Conveniently, reaction is carried out in a solvent, eg. dichloromethane. The process is particularly useful for preparing optically active alkyl 2-propionates of high purity in which case the chloroformate intermediates, certain of which are novel, are decomposed at a temperature below 60°C, preferably in the range of 20 to 40'C.

A vulcanizable rubber composition comprises (1) 100 parts by weight of a polymer composition comprising
(I) a vinylidene fluoride resin,
(II) at least one acrylic rubber, a,p-unsaturated nitrile-conjugated diene copolymer rubber or hydride of an a,p-unsaturated nitrile-conjugated diene copolymer rubber,
(III) another blendable polymer,
wherein the weight ratio of (I)/[(II) + (III)] is from 5/95 to 60/ 40 and the weight ratio of (II)/(III) is from 100/0 to 50/50, and (2) from 0 to 40 by weight of a plasticizer. Said rubber composition excels not only in heat resistance, gasoline resistance and sour gasoline resistance but also in gasohol resistance and sour gasohol resistance and further has good tensile strength, elongation and balance between gasoline resistance and low-temperature resistance. Therefore, it can be used in the fluid-contacting surface of a diaphragm or as an inner tube of a fuel hose.
