    The sequential synthesis of eleven novel 1-trimethysilyl-2-arylcyclohexenes 4a–k from 1-bromo-2-chlorocyclohexene (1) is reported. The Suzuki cross coupling of 1 with eleven aryl boronic acids 2a–k gave the 1-chloro-2-arylcyclohexenes 3a–k in >90% yields. Wurtz–Fittig coupling reaction of 3a–k with metallic sodium and chlorotrimethylsilane in anhydrous ether solvent afforded the novel anionic synthons:

    This invention provides a method for minimizing or relieving a sustained casing pressure in an annulus of a wellbore, where the annulus contains a first fluid having a density. The method comprises introducing a second fluid into the annulus. The second fluid has a density greater than the density of the first fluid and the second fluid is immiscible with the first fluid. The method is characterized in that the second fluid comprises at least one halogen-containing organic compound. The halogen-containing organic compound has one or more halogen atoms selected from fluorine, chlorine, bromine, and iodine, with the proviso that at least one of the halogen atoms is chlorine, bromine, or iodine.

    Reaction of 1-bromo-2-chlorocyclohexene with ten aryl amines, sodium tert-butoxide and Pd[2-(furan-2'-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole]2Cl2 as catalyst in toluene under sealed pressure tube conditions at 80 °C gave the novel 1-chlorocyclohexenyl-2-aminobenzenes, in greater than 85% yields. The compounds were characterized by spectroscopic techniques.
