1-R-3-acylmethylbenzimidazolium salts have been obtained which transformed under the action of ammonium acetate into the previously undescribed 1,4-diarylimidazoles and 1-aryl-4- (5-nitrofuran-2-il)imidazoles. The antiprotozoal, fungistatic, and antimicrobial activities of these compounds have been tested.
The present invention provides compounds that are useful as vaccine adjuvants and/or antitumor agents and methods for producing and using the same. In one particular aspect of the invention, compounds of the invention are of the formula (I) where R1, R2, R3 and Ar1 are those defined herein.

Formulated and/or co-formulated liposomes comprising TLR prodrugs and/or TLR Lipid Moieties and methods of making the liposomes are disclosed herein. The TLR prodrug compositions comprise a drug moiety, a lipid moiety, and linkage unit that inhibit Toll-Like Receptor (e.g., TLR1/2, TLR4, and/or TLR7). The TLR prodrugs can be formulated and/or co-formulated into a liposome to provide a method of treating cancer, immunological disorders, and other disease by utilizing a targeted drug delivery vehicle.
