    A composition and method for producing a beneficial effect on a subject's nerve associated with at least one of a cosmetic condition, a dermatological indication and a dental indication and another condition. The composition comprises a hydroxy-oligocarboxylic ester and is formulated for topical administration of the product to a subject to produce the beneficial effect. The method includes topically applying to the subject in a region where the beneficial effect is desired a hydroxy-oligocarboxylic ester in an amount effective to produce the beneficial effect.

    A cutting or grinding oil composition comprising (A) a base oil and (B) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of dibasic acids having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, tribasic acids having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and ester derivatives of these acids; and a cutting or grinding oil composition comprising component (A) described above, component (B) described above, (C) a compound containing sulfur, and/or (D) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of perbasic alkali metal sulfonates and perbasic alkaline earth metal sulfonates are disclosed. By using the oil composition, increase in working efficiency, such as suppressed wear of working tools and superior precision of a finished surface, can be achieved.

    Articles, including films, coatings and laminates, are produced from certain sulfonated aliphatic-aromatic polyetherester compositions, which have an optimized combination of fast biodegradation rates and enhanced thermal properties when compared to the sulfonated aliphatic-aromatic polyetherester compositions of the art. The articles may be further processed to form useful shaped articles, such as sheets, thermoformed containers, and coatings that can be applied to, for example, films or other substrates. The disclosed polyetheresters are based on copolyesters produced from a mixture containing aromatic dicarboxylic acids, aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, poly(alkylene ether) glycols, glycols, and components containing alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulfo groups.
