Abstract A promising method for the synthesis of a new class of macrocyclic phosphorus-containing tri- and diperoxides was developed. The method is based on catalytic ring transformation reactions of heptaoxadispiroalkanes, pentaoxacanes, and pentaoxadispiroalkanes with phenylphosphine followed by oxidation of the reaction mixture with H 2 O 2 .

An efficient method for the synthesis of pentaoxaspiroalkanes and pentaoxocanes by cyclocondensation of 1,1-bis(hydroperoxy)cycloalkanes and 1,1-bis(hydroperoxy)alkanes with formaldehyde catalyzed by Sm(NO3)3·6H2O has been developed.
An efficient method for the synthesis of tetraoxathiaspiroalkanes, tetraoxathiocanes, and hexaoxathiadispiroalkanes was developed by reactions of pentaoxacanes, pentaoxaspiroalkanes, and heptaoxadispiroalkanes with hydrogen sulfide in the presence of a catalyst, Sm(NO3)3·6H2O. We found that the synthesized S-containing di- and triperoxides exhibit high cytotoxic activity against Jurkat, K562, U937
