Reductive amination of various ketones and aldehydes by transferhydrogenation under aqueous conditions has been developed, by using cyclometallated iridium complexes as catalysts and formate as hydrogen source. The pH value of the solution is shown to be critical for a high catalytic chemoselectivity and activity, with the best pH value being 4.8. In comparison with that in organic solvents, the reductive
The present invention relates to an iridium-based catalyst compound for hydrogenating reducible moieties, especially imines and iminiums, the catalyst compounds being defined by the formula: (Formula (I)) where ring B is a conjugated ring system with one or more substituents. The catalysts of the invention are particularly effective in reductive amination procedures which involve the in situ generation of the imine or iminium under reductive hydrogenative conditions.
Abstract A series of novel [3]ferrocenophane-derived N/BfrustratedLewispairs (FLPs) were synthesized and successfully applied to the catalytic hydrogenation of imines in 71-93% yields. This approach could be easily conducted on gram scale and provided versatile synthetic route for the key intermediate of sertraline hydrochloride without heavy metal residues. Graphical Abstract

successfully developed a single nucleotide (adenosine 5′‐diphosphate)‐catalyzed enantioselective direct reductiveamination of aldehydes and ketones using a Hantzsch ester as reducing agent. The process is a simple, efficient and a real mimic of the NADH reduction approach for the synthesis of structurally diverse amines. This reaction is the first report demonstrating the ability of a single nucleotide as catalyst
DMSO methylates a broad range of amines in the presence of formic acid, providing a novel, green and practical method for aminemethylation. The protocol also allows the one‐pot transformation of aromatic nitro compounds into dimethylated amines in the presence of a simple iron catalyst.
