The reaction of zirconium metallacycles is used to produce a variety of main group heterocycles including borole Diels-Alder dimers, galloles, indacyclopentadienes, siloles, germoles, stannoles, phospholes, arsoles, stiboles, bismoles, thiophenes, selenophenes, dihydrothiophenes, dihydroselenophenes, tetrahydrothiophenes, tetrahydroselenophenes, stannacyclopentanes, phospholenes, and isothiazoles.
