Novel reagent, methyl bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)bromophosphonoacetate (5a), was designed and prepared in order to efficiently synthesize (E)-α-bromoacrylates 7, from which widely useful precursors for various C–C bond formations were prepared.
