developed a concise and regioselective approach to chromenes and chromanes through an aryne‐based synthetic strategy. A practical, gram‐scale synthetic route to a chromene‐type aryne precursor was explored. Subsequently, cyclization under mild conditions afforded tetracyclic xanthone skeletons with excellent regioselectivity.
