    Regioselective epoxidation of different types of double bonds over large-pore titanium silicate Ti-β
    摘要:
    Regioselective epoxidation of different types of double bonds located within the cyclic and acyclic parts of bulky olefins has been investigated using large-pore titanium silicate Ti-beta in the presence of dilute aqueous H2O2 as oxidant under mild liquid-phase conditions. Our experimental results revealed that side-chain vinylic double bonds are selectively epoxidized than those in the cyclohexene-ring. The epoxidation tendency of various bulky olefins with different positional and/or geometric isomers over Ti-beta follows the order: terminal -C=C- > ring -C=C- approximate to bicyclic ring -C=C- > allylic C-H bond. Unlike 4-vinyl-1-cyclohexene, epoxidation of an equimolar mixture of cyclohexene and 1-hexene under identical conditions using Ti-beta exhibits completely different selectivity and product distributions. Steric factor and accessibility of reactants to active Ti-sites are responsible for the observed regioselectivity of bulky alkenes. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

    A toner binder for dry toners which comprises a polyester; and a process for producing the toner binder. A known conventional technique for imparting low-temperature fixing property and anti-hot offset property to a toner binder is to use a mixture of two powdery polyesters. However, when the two polyesters mixed differ greatly in softening point, the effect of mixing is not obtained and pigments show poor dispersibility during toner production. The toner binder and the process eliminate these problems. The toner binder comprises aggregates of binder resin particles comprising two polyesters (A) and (B), wherein the polyester (A) has a higher softening point than the polyester (B) and the polyesters (A) and (B) have been evenly mixed in each particle. The process for producing a toner binder is characterized by melt-mixing the two polyesters (A) and (B) at 80 to 180 °C. The toner binder is used mainly as an ingredient for dry toners.

    A polyester resin toner binder which gives a toner with good anti-blocking property at high temperature and high humidity and good low-temperature fixing ability. The present invention is directed to a toner binder for developing electrostatic charge images, which binder comprises a condensation-polymerization polyester resin, the polyester resin being a product formed in the presence of a catalyst (a) represented by the following general formula (I):         Ti(-X)m(-OR)n     (I) wherein R is H or a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms which may contain from 1 to 3 ether bonds and/or from 1 to 2 hydroxyl groups; X is a residue formed by removing H of one carboxyl group from an aromatic mono- or polycarboxylic acid, provided that in the case of a polycarboxylic acid, a carboxyl group other than said one carboxyl group may intramolecularly polycondense with an OR group in the same molecule to form a ring structure or may form a structure where it has polycondensed intermolecularly with an OR group in another molecule; m = 1 to 3, n = 1 to 3, and the sum of m and n is 4.

    Disclosed herein is a polyester resin-based toner binder which can impart both excellent anti-blocking property under high temperature and humidity conditions and low-temperature fixing properties to a toner. The toner binder for developing electrostatic images includes a polycondensation polyester resin produced in the presence of at least one titanium-containing catalyst (a) represented by the following general formula (I) or (II):         Ti(-X)m(-OH)n     (I)         O=Ti(-X)p(-OR)q     (II) wherein X is a residue formed by removing H of one OH group from a (poly)alkanolamine having 2 to 12 carbon atoms; R is H or a C1 to C8 alkyl group which may have 1 to 3 ether bonds; m is 1 to 4, n is 0 to 3, and the sum of m and n is 4; and p is 1 to 2, q is 0 to 1, and the sum of p and q is 2 (m, n, p, and q are each an integer).
