Styrylheterocycles: A novel class of inhibitors on lipopolysaccharide-Induced nitric oxide production

A series of styrylheterocycles was prepared and their inhibitory activities against nitric oxide (NO) production were evaluated in a cell culture system using lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophage cells. Our studies have identified a new series of inhibitors on NO production, providing the basis for further development of potent inhibitors. The preliminary structure-activity relationship, to elucidate the essential structural requirements, has been described. Mechanistic studies suggest that the suppression of iNOS mRNA transcription is, at least in part, related to the inhibitory activity of styrylheterocycles. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

An Efficient Microwave-Promoted Route to (Z)-Stilbenes from trans-Cinnamic Acids: Synthesis of Combretastatin A-4 and Analogues
cis-Stilbenes were synthesized from trans-cinnamic acids, involving ethylenic-bond bromination and a subsequent one-pot microwave-promoted stereoselective debrominative decarboxylation-Suzuki cross-coupling strategy. This sequence represents a useful way to prepare a variety of combretastatin A-4 derivatives.

An aim of the invention is to provide a new type of sensor, capable of recognising and/or quantifying analytes in a fluid. A further aim of the present invention is to provide such sensors with an oligomer material as a binding layer. A further aim of the present invention is to provide a novel method for the manufacture if such sensor wherein the oligomer layer is locally deposited on the sites of the sensor having a multitude of sensing sites.
