    Novel hexahydroimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines prepared by the addition of ethyl (1-benzylimidazolidin-2-ylidene)acetate (2) to the fungal metabolite podoscyphic acid (1a) and esters of la have been evaluated for their ability to inhibit the inducible TNF-alpha promoter activity in T cells. The methyl ester 3b is the most potent, inhibiting the TNF-alpha driven reporter gene expression in Jurkat T cells with an IC50-value of 2.0 mu g/ml (3.6 mu M). In addition, compound 3b inhibited the inducible TNF-alpha production in the myelomonocytic U937 cells with an IC50-value of 4.6 mu M. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    Podoscyphic acid 1, a fungal metabolite inhibiting RNA-directed DNA polymerises, was synthesised in four steps starting from dodecanal. The concluding ester hydrolysis of 4 was not feasible with chemical reagents, only enzymatic hydrolysis was mild enough to release the highly reactive natural product in good yields.     Disclosed is a resin composition comprised of (a) 5 to 95 weight % of a saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, (b) 95 to 5 weight % of a polyamide resin in which the content (in µ-equivalent/g of the polymer) of the terminal amino group in the molecule is larger than the content (in µ-equivalent/g of the polymer) of the terminal carboxyl group in the molecule, and (c) 0.5 to 10 weight % of a modified polyolefin formed by grafting an unsaturated carboxylic acid, or an acid anhydride or salt thereof onto a polyolefin. The resin composition can be stably shaped for a long time by extrusion.

    The present invention relates to a laminated article excellent in appearance at a retort treatment, delamination resistance, gas barrier property, further, long-run processability, performance of preventing odor and coloring and the like. The laminated article of the present invention is characterized in comprising a layer (I) containing a saponified product of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) and a polyamide resin (B) and a layer (II) of a polyamide resin (C) which is adjacent to the layer (I) directly or via an adhesive resin layer, wherein the saponified product of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) contains a sodium salt (M1) and a bivalent metal salt (M2), and an amount ratio (M1/M2) of the sodium salt (M1) to the bivalent metal salt (M2) is 0.01 to 15 calculated in terms of metal weight, further comprising 3 to 50 ppm of a phosphorus compound calculated in terms of phosphorus and 10 to 1000 ppm of a hindered phenol antioxidant.
