A process for the manufacture of (R)-(-)-1-(2,4-dichloro-phenyl)-2-imidazole-1-yl-ethanol (I) by biocatalytic asymmetric reduction of 1-(2,4-dichloro-phenyl)-2-imidazole-1-yl-ethanone (II) is provided. The invention also provides a process for the manufacture of Arasertaconazole from (I).
