Reaction of piperitenone, (+)-limonene, or styrene with 1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione (TAD) produces adducts by ene reaction. The reaction of (+)-limonene gives a 2:1 adduct which results from further addition of TAD to an intermediary ene reaction product. The reaction of styrene gives 2:1 adducts via further addition of TAD to the Diels-Alder reaction product.
