Abstract The synthesis of new 1,2,4‐ and 1,3,4‐oxadiazole derivatives as potential nonpeptideangiotensinIIreceptorantagonists is described. The quinoxalinone systems used as the “northern moiety” in these compounds were alkylated through a liquid/liquid phase‐transfer catalysis protocol, with good yields and high nitrogen‐ to oxygen‐alkylated product (N/O) ratios.
