Replacing the backbone amide function by a heterocyclic bioisostere, [3+2] azide–alkyne cycloaddition has been applied for the construction of biologically relevant peptidomimetics. Starting from aminoalkynoates, triazole formation was accomplished by addition of hydrazoic acid.
