A newsesquiterpenelactone, 3-benzoyl-pseudoanisatin, has been isolated from pericarps of Illiciumdunnianum, together with the four known sesquiterpenelactones dunnianin, pseudomajucin, pseudoanisatin and 6-deoxypseudoanisatin. The structure of the new compound was established by spectroscopic and chemical methods.
