Palladium-SPO complex catalyzed the tandem [2+1] cycloaddition-ring expansion of norbornene derivatives with tertiary propargylic acetates to afford bicyclo[3.2.1]octadienes.
Enzymatic desymmetrization of the title compound 1 is reported using various commercially available lipases in hydrolysis and alcoholysis reactions or ester synthesis. In this area, lipase Amano AK (Pseudomonas sp.) proved to be the best lipase whatever the experimental conditions used. The monoacetate product 2 is indifferently obtained with more than 95% enantiomeric excess (ee) as the levorotatory

palladium(0)-catalyzed alkylation of 2,3-bis(acetoxymethyl)bicyclo[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene 1 with malonate-type enolates as nucleophiles is investigated. A monoalkylated product is formed first, and undergoes (depending on the nucleophile used) a second intramolecular reaction leading to spirocyclopropane-annulated bicyclo[2.2.1]heptenederivatives 5. The formation of endo spirobicyclic cyclopropanes adducts as

New Pt(eta(2)-acetato)[(R)(Ph)PO](2)H} complexes 3 prepared from PtCl2(CH3CN)(2) and secondary phosphine oxides (SPOs) catalyzed the [2 + 1] cycloaddition of phenylethyne (5a) with norbornene derivatives 4 to afford benzylidenecyclopropanes.
