that compounds NTU-2, NTU-3 and NTU-4 possess two-dimensional layer structures, while compound NTU-1 adopts a one-dimensional coordination framework (NTU-n, where n is the number related to a specific structure). The diffuse-reflectance spectra demonstrate that these four compounds possess indirect bandgaps and their tunable bandgaps are correlated with their compositions and crystal structures.

trinuclear diiminerhenium(I) tricarbonylcomplexes bridged by 1,3,5-tris(4-ethenylpyridyl)benzene (L1) or 1,3,5-tris(4-ethynylpyridyl)benzene (L2) have been synthesized and characterized. The L2-bridged complexes (group B) exhibit strong luminescence and long emission lifetimes in room-temperature solution which are typical of decay from 3MLCT excited states, while the L1-bridged complexes (group A)

The present invention includes a novel self-assembling nanocomposite structure comprising a shape-persistent three-dimensional cage molecule. In one aspect, binding of nanoparticles to metal coordinating groups in the cage molecule allows for the self-assembly of the nanoparticles into a nanocomposite material. The present invention further includes methods of preparing such self-assembling nanocomposite structures.
The present invention provides for novel metallacycles and processes for making the same.

The polynucleating bridging ligands L1 and H3L2 were simply prepared via a Heck coupling of 4-vinylpyridine or 4-methoxystyrene with 1,3,5-tribromobenzene; in the trinuclear complexes of L1 and L2 with a paramagnetic Mo(NO)BH(C3HN2Me2-3,5)3}Cl} moiety [BH(C3HN2Me2-3,5)3= tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl) hydroborate] at each binding site the EPR spectra demonstrate that all three unpaired electrons are in ‘fast exchange’ between all three metal centres
