Some benzo-crown etherssubstituted in the arene ring are described, e.g. the 15-X-substituted benzo-[15-crown-5] ethers (1; X = CN, CHNOH, or CH3CNOH) and 15-CHNOH,16-CH3-substituted benzo-[15-crown-5](8). An efficient and convenient method for the preparation of benzo‐21‐crown‐7 (B21C7) and itsderivatives is reported. The structures of B21C7 and itsderivatives were confirmed by NMR spectroscopy and X‐ray crystallography.
