Anti-fog coatings and related articles, compositions, and methods are generally described. In some embodiments, an article may comprise a dual functional anti-fog and anti-fouling coating. The coating may be stimuli-responsive and the surface energy, and accordingly wettability, of the coating may reversibly change upon exposure to certain conditions. For instance, upon exposure to water, the coating may have a relatively high surface energy that allows water to wet the coating. Conversely, exposure to an oil may cause the coating to have a relatively low surface energy that repels the oil. In some embodiments, such a stimuli responsive coating may comprise a cross-linked polymer network with covalently attached oleophobic groups.

The present invention provides polymerizable monomers represented by the following general formula (1) that are useful as dental materials.
In the general formula (1), Ra is a divalent C6-9 aromatic hydrocarbon group or a divalent C6-9 optionally bridged cyclic hydrocarbon group, R1 and R2 are each a hydrogen atom or a C1-3 alkyl group, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are each a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group, R7 and R8 are each a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, m and n are each independently 0 to 4, and Rb and Rc are each independently a C2-6 linear alkylene or C2-6 linear oxyalkylene group optionally substituted with a C1-3 alkyl group or a (meth)acryloyloxymethylene group in place of a hydrogen atom.
An object of the invention is to provide adhesive materials which exhibit high adhesive strength, and compounds which can be blended with the adhesive materials. The invention provides compounds represented by the general formula (1) below, in which the core (X) below and the terminal group (Y1) below are bonded to each other: X(Y1)n1 (1) (in the general formula (1), n1 represents the number of terminal groups (Y1) bonded to the core (X), and n1 is equal to the valence of the core (X) ; the core (X) is a C1-200 polyvalent organic group having a valence of not less than 3 containing an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom in which an atom bonded to the terminal group (Y1) is the oxygen atom or the nitrogen atom; and the terminal group (Y1) is a specific phosphorus-containing group, a specific (meth)acryloyl group-containing group (Y2), a (meth) acryloyl group, a C1-20 hydrocarbon group or a hydrogen atom, and a plurality of terminal groups (Y1) may be the same as or different from each other, with the proviso that among all the terminal groups (Y1) in the compound represented by the general formula (1), one or more terminal groups are specific phosphorus-containing groups, and one or more terminal groups are (meth)acryloyl group-containing groups (Y2)).
