    Catalyzed halogen exchange between perhaloolefins to form products of the formulas: wherein R1, RZ, R3, R5, R6 and R7 are independently selected from F, Cl, Br, C1 to C4 perfluoroalkyl and pentrafluorophenyl; or R1 and R3 together, R2 and R3 together, R5 and R7 together or R6 and R7 together, when both groups are in the cis configuration, may also represent perfluoroalkylene of 2 to 4 carbons or o-C6F4(-)CF2-; R8=F; R4= Cl or Br; none of the fluoroolefins simultaneously contain both Cl and Br; and R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 may be chosen as to product identical structures for the reactants or for the products.

    1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane is produced by hydrogenating 2,2,3-trichloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane with at least 4.5 times by equivalent as much hydrogen in the presence of a noble metal catalyst, particularly a palladium catalyst in vapor phase. The 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane is also produced by chlorofluorinating propane, propene, hexachloropropene, etc., in the presence of a metallic catalyst into 2,2,3-trichloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and reducing the product with hydrogen in the presence of a noble metal catalyst. It is possible to produce 2,2,3-trichloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane efficiently and economically.

    In a process for producing a hydrogen-containing fluorinated hydrocarbon in which a halogenated hydrocarbon reaction raw material, which includes a chlorinated alkene and/or a hydrogen-containing chlorinated alkane, is subjected to a fluorination reaction with hydrogen fluoride in a liquid phase in a reactor in the presence of a fluorination catalyst to obtain a reaction mixture which includes the hydrogen-containing fluorinated hydrocarbon, the reactor to be used has a portion which is able to contact with the reaction mixture, at least a part of this portion being made of an alloy material of 18 to 20 % by weight of chromium, 18 to 20 % by weight of molybdenum, 1.5 to 2.2 % by weight of at least one element selected from niobium and tantalum and the balance of nickel.

    A method for producing a hydrogen-containing fluorinated hydrocarbon includes supplying HF to a gap between an inner reactor made of a material resistant to the reaction and an outer container made of a material resistant to HF; supplying HF to the inner reactor; supplying a halogenated hydrocarbon selected from a chlorinated alkene and a hydrogen-containing chlorinated alkane to the inner reactor; and reacting HF with halogenated hydrocarbon in the presence of a fluorination catalyst in the inner reactor to obtain the reaction product containing the hydrogen-containing fluorinated hydrocarbon.
