The carbanion rearrangement of the propargylic ether of the beta-(1-alkoxyethyl) allyl alcohol was found to proceed with a high degree of either 1,4-syn or 1,4-anti selection by virtue of the proper choice of the combination of the alkoxy group with the solvent used.
