    We describe the copper‐catalyzed decarboxylative alkylation of substituted cinnamic acids using N‐Tosyl oxaziridines with high yields and excellent stereoselectivities. The (E)‐alkene was achieved as the sole isomer in a single step. Our protocol also gives an efficient approach for the construction of alkyl phenyl acetylenes without oxidants and bases.     Potent and selective ligands for the dopamine 3 (D 3 ) receptor are disclosed. The D3 receptor ligands have a structural formula (I) wherein X is C═O or SO 2 , R 1 is C 1-6 alkyl, R 2 is aryl, heteroaryl, aryl, —(CH 2 ) 1-3 aryl, or —(CH 2 ) 1-3 heteroaryl, and n is 0 or 1. Methods of using the D 3 receptor ligands in the treatment of diseases and conditions wherein modulation of the D 3 receptor provides a benefit also are disclosed.

    NiCl2(dppe)-catalyzed cross-coupling of cinnamaldehyde dithioacetals gave the corresponding geminal dimethylation products in excellent yields. Allylic ortho thioesters afforded regioselectively the corresponding trimethylation products. The reaction may occur via an 18-electron pi-allyl intermediate, which undergoes facile reductive elimination to afford the geminal dimethylation product. Benzylic dithioacetals having an ortho amino group gave 2-isopropylanilines exclusively. The reaction of benzylic dithioacetals with EtMgBr under the same conditions yielded geminal diethylation products.
