The cystine moiety of the novel hematoregulatory peptide HP-Sb has been substituted with an achiral N,N'-bis(carboxymethyl)-1,4-diaminobutane unit. The resulting compound was also a potent hematoregulatory agent, suggesting that N,N'-bis(carboxymethyl)-1,4-diaminobutane can function as an effective achiral cystine replacement in this molecular series.
