    This invention relates to photosensitizer dyes for dye-sensitized solar cells. The photosensitizer dyes are porphyrin-based zinc complexes represented by the following general formulae (100) and (200). wherein A is represented by one of the following formulae (111)˜(118), wherein Z 1 ˜Z 10 independently represent a hydrogen atom (H), lithium (Li), sodium (Na), or tetra-alkyl ammonium group (as represented by the following general formula (120)), wherein X 1 ˜X 4 independently represent C m H 2m+1 (m=1˜6), and B, C, D, and E independently represent one of the following formulae (131)˜(140), wherein R a ˜R z are independently selected from the group consisting of H, C m H 2m+1 (m=1˜15), OC p H 2p+1 (p=1˜15), CH 2 [OC 2 H 4 ] n OCH 3 (n=1˜30), and [OC 2 H 4 ] q OCH 3 (q=1˜30).

    A series of conjugated dienones and enones were synthesized by a reaction of both conjugated and simple aldehydes, respectively, with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. and aldehydes Under solvent-free conditions at room temperature in the presence of 10 mol % of L-profine as catalyst. The selective formation of one isomer was, observed exclusively with most of the 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and aldehydes.
