A transition‐metal‐free approach to the alkylation/arylation of benzoxazole was developed by employing Tf2O‐activated‐amide as the alkylating/arylating reagent. The mild reaction conditions, and particularly insensitivity to air and water, further enhance the synthetic potential in pharmaceutical synthesis.

An iron-catalyzed arylation of azoles with aromatic aldehydes using oxygen as oxidant has been discovered. The reaction proceeded well for a range of different substrates under oxidative conditions.

A simple and efficient methodology for the arylation of benzoxazoles with aldehydes using iodine as the mediator has been developed. The reaction proceeded smoothly with a range of substrates to give the corresponding arylated products in moderate to good yields.
