                                    The protonated macrocyclic polyamine [24]-N6O2(1) catalyses acetylphosphate hydrolysis and pyrophosphate formation via generation of a phosphorylated intermediate (2) which transfers a phosphoryl group to a phosphate substrate, thus acting as a bond-forming molecular cocatalyst.
