L‐Proline efficiently catalyzed the multi‐component Hantzschreaction in EtOH at 60°C underultrasoundirradiation to afford the corresponding 1,4‐dihydropyridine and polyhydroquinoline derivatives in high yields. This method offers the advantages of neutral and mild reaction conditions, high to excellent yields of the products and simple workup.

Abstract 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one and their derivatives were synthesized in good yields (90–99%) by a one-pot, three-component Biginelli cyclocondensation of dimedone, aldehydes, and urea in the presence of trimethylsilyl chloride (TMSCl) in dimethylformamide (DMF).
