A method for producing α-substituted acrylate esters is provided which can be suitably used as an industrial method for producing α-substituted acrylate esters because the method does not have problems of apparatus corrosion or does not require waste detoxification and allows reaction in a short time with high yield. The method for producing an α-substituted acrylate ester includes a step of carrying out a reaction of a compound having a specific structure and an active hydrogen-containing compound under a condition where a tertiary amine and an acid and/or a salt thereof coexist.

The adhesive properties of a hot melt adhesive, comprising a base polymer and a tackifying resin, can be improved by introducing into the hot melt adhesive an epoxy adduct comprising the reaction product between a compound such as a polymer having at least one active hydrogen and an epoxy compound.
Novel optical fiber cladding compositions containing fluorinated acrylamide monomers are described. The claddings are liquids at room temperature which possess excellent coating viscosities in the pre-polymerized state and are polymerized by actinic radiation.

A method and an apparatus for continuously hardening visible-light-curing resins are disclaimed.
An object (10), such as an orthodontic bracket, made of visible-light-curing resins, is carried on a conveyor (2) past a row of halogen lamps (1), and sensors (6) detect the temperature in zones of the row whereby controllers (7) activate cooling fans (5) to maintain the temperature in each zone. The objects are moved continuously, either in a non-stop or intermittent manner, and deep uniform hardening is achieved.
