Pyrazolo[3,4‐d]pyrimidine derivatives were synthesized using ionic liquid, 1‐butylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, under ultrasound irradiation at ambient condition without any added catalyst. Mechanistic pathway based on the catalytic role of ionic liquid has been proposed.
