Nano-CoAl2O4 has been used as an efficient catalyst for the preparation of 5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-3 furancarboxylates by multi-component reactions of phenylglyoxal, dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and primary amines. The best results were obtained in the presence of 4 mg of nano-CoAl2O4 in CH2Cl2 at room temperature. The structures of the products were deduced from their 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and elemental
