Sesquiterpene lactones and furanocoumarins from Cicerbita alpina

In addition to known furanocounmarins, the roots and leaves of Cicerbita alpina gave a new derivative of lactucin, whose structure was assessed by spectral data and chemical reactions.
Abstract From Hypochoeris glabra two guaianolides esterified with an unusual sesquiterpenic acid were isolated. Proton-catalysed rearrangement of the cyclopropane derivative led to a phenolic acid. The structures were elucidated by high-field 1 H NMR spectroscopy. Further guaianolides were isolated from H. uniflora and Lactuca floridana .
