  Reactions of aliphatic β-amino-β-(trichloromethyl)vinyl ketones with an excess of ethyl-enediamine at room temperature afford substituted 2-acetonylideneimidazolidines. The structure of 2-pivaloylmethyleneimidazolidine was established by X-ray diffraction analysis.
