Photoswitchable Thioureas for the External Manipulation of Catalytic Activity
摘要:
A series of azobenzene-based thiourea catalysts have been developed with the aim of achieving control over the catalytic activity by the use of light. The conceptual design of these systems relies on the inactivation by means of intramolecular hydrogen bonding, only likely to take place in one of their isomeric forms. After fine structure modulation of the catalyst a substantial difference in activity has been observed between the irradiated and the nonirradiated reaction. Furthermore, the system allowed in situ manipulation of the catalyst activity during the course of a given experiment.
Addition of functionalized aryl, heteroaryl or adamantyl zinc reagents to various nitroso-arenes in the presence of magnesium salts and LiCl in THF produces after a reductive work-up with FeCl2 and NaBH4 in ethanol the corresponding polyfunctional secondary amines in high yields.

Opening light: Two‐dimensional pores are formed by the self‐assembly of azobenzene‐functionalized triangular building blocks on graphite at the liquid–solid interface. These pores can selectively host a guest molecule. The pore size can be reversibly changed by irradiation at different wavelength which changes the number of guest molecules that are adsorbed (see scheme).
The invention relates to novel benzodiazepine derivatives with antiproliferative activity and more specifically to novel benzodiazepines of formula (I) and (II), in which the diazepine ring (B) is fused with a heterocyclic ring (CD), wherein the heterocyclic ring is bicyclic or a compound of formula (III), in which the diazepine ring (B) is fused with a heterocyclic ring (C), wherein the heterocyclic ring is monocyclic. The invention provides cytotoxic dimers of these compounds. The invention also provides conjugates of the monomers and the dimers. The invention further provides compositions and methods useful for inhibiting abnormal cell growth or treating a proliferative disorder in a mammal using the compounds or conjugates of the invention. The invention further relates to methods of using the compounds or conjugates for in vitro, in situ, and in vivo diagnosis or treatment of mammalian cells, or associated pathological conditions.

A new class of dendrons and dendrimers containing azobenzene units (bearing up to 29 azobenzene groups for four generations) were designed and synthesized with the convergent method, which uses azobenzene derivatives as monomers and benzyl ester groups as linkages leading to photoresponsive dendrons and dendrimers with azobenzene units throughout their architecture. Photochemical isomerization experiments revealed that all of the dendrons and dendrimers undergo trans-cis isomerization by irradiation and cis-trans isomerization by either irradiation or heating.
