Reactions of previously known and newly synthesized N-(bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-endo-2-ylmethyl)arenesulfonamides with monoperoxyphthalic acid generated in situ from phthalic anhydride and 30% hydrogen peroxide lead mostly to the corresponding N-arylsulfonyl-exo-2-hydroxy-4-azatricyclo[4.2.1.03,7]nonanes (azabrendanes). In some cases, N-(exo-5,6-epoxybicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-exo-2-ylmethyl)arenesulfonamides were isolated as the only products or mixtures of alternative oxidation products were obtained. The presence of electron-acceptor nitro groups in the benzene ring and bulky substituents, primarily in the ortho position, is considered to be a structural factor preventing the primary oxidation products (epoxy derivatives) from undergoing heterocyclization.

To separate a catalyst for polymerizing a monomer contained in a liquid or paste dental composition containing at least a monomer, such as a dental resin cement, an autopolymerizing dental resin or a resin-reinforeced dental glass ionomer cement, from the liquid or paste dental composition to thereby improve storage stability of the dental composition and reduce number of division of the dental composition, an extrusion nozzle for a dental composition mounted on one end of an extruder for extruding a liquid or paste dental composition containing at least a monomer, the extrusion nozzle contains a catalyst for polymerizing the monomer contained in the dental composition during extrusion, and the catalyst is attached to an inner wall of an extruding channel of the extrusion nozzle.
An objective of the present invention is to provide a dual curing type composite resin for core build-up, of which curing property by chemical polymerization is improved so that mechanical strength of a cured body can be improved under the condition of no light irradiation, and a setting time for clinical treatment can be shorten. The composite resin is composed of a first component including a (meth)acrylate polymerizable resin and an organic peroxide, and a second component including (meth)acrylate polymerizable resin and a reducing agent. A photopolymerizaton initiator and a filler are included in the first component and/or the second component, oxide powder of a Group II element in the periodic table having an average particle diameter of 1 µm or less is blended in the first component and/or the second component.
