  A selective resin for linking trans-diequatorial-1,2-diols to solid support is described. This linking was carried out under mild and aprotic conditions involving the use of trimethylsilyl methyl ether in the presence of trimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate. Cleavage from the resin was also carried out under mild conditions by treatment with dichloromethane/trifluoroacetic acid/water (21:20:1).
