    Copper(II) complexes with tridentate N2O donor Schiff base isomers: Modulation of molecular and crystalline architectures through supramolecular interactions

    Four copper(II) complexes, [Cu(L-1)(mu-Cl)](n) (1), [Cu-2(L-2)(2)(mu-Cl)(2)] (2), [Cu(L-1)(mu(1,5)-NCNCN)](n) (3) and [Cu(L-2)(mu(1,5)-NCNCN)](n), (4), where HL1 = 1-[(2-dimethylamino-ethylimino)-methyl]-naphthalen-2-ol and HL2 = 1-[(2-ethylamino-ethylimino)-methyl]-naphthalen-2-ol, acting as tridentate N2O donor ligands, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Complexes 1, 3 and 4 show polymeric chain structures, whereas 2 has a double chloride bridged dimeric structure. The existence of C-H center dot center dot center dot pi it interactions between the dimeric units of 2 gives rise to a 2D supramolecular network. Complex 3 shows a zipper structure through pi center dot center dot center dot pi interactions between two polymeric chains. Complex 4 shows hydrogen bonding interactions which produces a 2D hydrogen bonded structure and these 2D layers then show interlayer pi center dot center dot center dot pi interactions.     HL 1  = 1-[(2-二甲基氨基-乙基亚氨基)-甲基]-萘-2-醇和 HL 2  = 1-[(2-乙基氨基-乙基亚氨基)-甲基]-萘-2-醇这两种异构席夫碱被用来在硫氰酸盐存在下制备铜(II)络合物。HL 1 与末端的硫氰酸盐形成单核络合物 [Cu(L1)NCS],而异构席夫碱 HL 2 则能形成氢键,产生具有双 μ-1,1-NCS 桥的二聚络合物 [Cu2 (L 2 ) 2(NCS)2]。这两种配合物都通过物理化学和光谱方法以及单晶 X 射线衍射研究进行了表征。

  • Synthesis, Crystal Structures and Antibacterial Activities of Two Schiff Base Zinc(II) Complexes

    Two new mononuclear Schiff base zinc(II) complexes, [ZnBr(2)L1] center dot CH3OH (1) and [ZnBr(2)L2] center dot H2O (2) (L1 = 1-[(2-ethylaminoethylimino) methyl] naphthalen-2-olate, L2 = 4 bromo-2-[(2=methylaminoethylimino)methyl] phenolate), have been obtained from a similar synthetic procedure. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses and single crystal X-ray determinations. In each of the complexes, the zinc(II) atom is four-coordinated by one imine N and one phenolate O atoms from a Schiff base ligand, and by two terminal Br atoms, forming a tetrahedral coordination. Except for the mononuclear zinc(II) complex moiety, complex 1 consists of a lattice MeOH molecule, while complex 2 consists of a lattice water molecule. Both of the lattice components in the complexes participate in the formation of hydrogen bonds. The Schiff base ligands and the two zinc(II) complexes showed potent antibacterial activities.
