    A process is described for the preparation of oxamide derivatives wherein one or both --NH.sub.2 groups are replaced by primary or secondary amino groups, through reaction of oxamide with a suitably selected amine of formula RR.sup.1 NH wherein R represents a substituted straight or branched (C.sub.2 -C.sub.12)alkyl radical wherein the substituent(s) or at least one of the substituents is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, amino, mono-substituted amino, and di-substituted amino, and R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or an optionally substituted (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)alkyl radical; representative oxamide derivatives which can thus be obtained useful as corrosion inhibitors, intermediates for polymers, polymer stabilizers, and slow-release fertilizers, are also described.

    Novel N,N'-bis [(alkylhydroxyphenyl) alkanoyloxyhydrocarbyl] oxamides which can be prepared by reacting an alkylhydroxyphenylalkanoic acid, an ester or anhydride thereof or a corresponding acid halide with an N,N'- bis(hydroxyhydrocarbyl) oxamide, are useful as stabilizers of organic materials normally subject to oxidative deterioration, e.g. polymers such as polyolefins. Methods of stabilizing organic materials subject to oxidative deterioration and stabilized organic materials with N,N'-bis [alkylhydroxyphenyl) alkanoyloxyhydrocarbyl] oxamides are provided.

    A lithographic printing plate precursor is disclosed including (i) a support having a hydrophilic surface or which is provided with a hydrophilic layer, and (ii) a coating including a photopolymerisable layer, characterised in that the photopolymerisable layer comprises a compound comprising at least one moiety having a structure according to Formula (I): wherein X represents O or NR* and R* represents hydrogen, an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heteroaryl group; and * denotes the linking positions to the rest of the compound. The application further discloses a monomer including at least one moiety having a structure according to Formula (I) and at least one moiety having a structure according to Formula (VIII): wherein X represents O or NR* and wherein R* represents hydrogen, or an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heteroaryl group; R5 represents hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl group; and * denotes the linking positions to the rest of the monomer.
