  Reaction of 2-vinyltetrahydrofuran and 2-vinyltetrahydropyran with ethylmagnesium bromude in the presence ot titanium(IV) isopropoxide afforded in moderate selectivity trans-4-octen-1-ol and trans-5-nonen-1-ol respectively. Best yields and high stereochemical purity of products were obtained in ethylation under these conditions of 2-(cis-1-propenyl)tetrahydrofuran, 2-(cis-1-proprnyl)- and 2- (trans-1-propenyl) tetrahydropyran. It is assumed that the key organometallic intermediate formed was diisopropoxy-titanacycloprpopane, and direction of its addition to the doubel bond governed the streochemistry of the resulting product. The obtained trans-4-octen-1-ol and trans-7-methyl-5-nonen-1-ol were applied as initial products in the synthesis of sex pheromones of lesser plum worm (Grafolita funebrana) and tea leaf roller moth (Adoxophyes sp).

  The present invention relates to a pheromone dispenser, filled with pheromone or a pheromone-comprising liquid and comprising (a) a deep-drawn plastic film made of a thermoplastic film material and featuring at least one dish-shaped zone for receiving a pheromone, and a planar plastic film made of a thermoplastic film material and which is connected with the deep-drawn plastic film, the planar plastic film together with the at least one dish-shaped zone of the deep-drawn plastic film forming a durably sealed chamber which comprises the pheromone or the pheromone-comprising liquid, and (c) a recess in the zone of the interconnected plastic films, the planar plastic film being permeable to the pheromone.   The invention is a composition consisting of at least one pesticidally active compound, at least one pheromone, at least one liquid UV absorber that is only sparingly miscible in water and least one optical brightener that is also only sparingly miscible with water, castor oil and at least two viscosity regulators. The composition remains viscous and sticky after application. The composition is very suitable for controlling undesirable Ecto-Parasites from the order Acarina on livestock, notably cattle and domestic animals as well as members of the order Artiodactyle (deer) without harming the treated animal or adversely impacting on the environment or the ecology, or creating pesticide residues.
