  Improved topical pharmaceutical compositions containing a pharmaceutically-active agent and the penetration enhancing agent 1-dodecylazacycloheptan-2-one are disclosed. This composition provides marked transepidermal and percutaneous delivery of the selected pharmaceutically-active agent.
