    Clear antiperspirant and/or deodorant compositions, especially clear sticks having good structural integrity, can be formed by incorporating at least 8% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of a selected siliconized polyamide into a product formulated with at least one silicone material and at least one non-silicone emollient. The siliconized polyamides have the silicone portion in the acid side of the polyamide and are selected so that: (a) the degree of polymerization in the silicone portion is in the range of 12-18; (b) the average molecular weight of the siliconized polyamide is at least 50,000 daltons with at least 95% of the polyamide having a molecular weight greater than 10,000 as measured by size exclusion chromatography; and (c) the polydispersity is less than 20.

    The invention is directed to a method for reducing the chemical activity and photo activity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles comprising adding a densifying agent, such as citric acid, to an aqueous slurry of the titanium dioxide nanoparticles; treating the aqueous slurry with a source of silica, such as a solution of sodium silicate, to form silica treated titanium dioxide nanoparticles; treating the silica treated titanium dioxide nanoparticles with a source of alumina, such as a solution of sodium aluminate, to form silica and alumina treated titanium dioxide nanoparticles. The titanium dioxide nanoparticles described herein are useful in cosmetic, coating and polymer compositions.

    mixture of a carboxylic acid and an alkali metal carboxylate group-containing rubber in a vinyl monomer is provided. The resulting composition has a relatively low viscosity and is particularly adapted for preparing a thermosettable composition suitable for preparing reinforced plastic articles by combining an unsaturated polyester, the alkali metal carboxylate-containing rubber solution containing the carboxylic acid, a catalyst, and a reinforcing agent. The resulting composition when cured exhibits high impact strength and good surface finish.

    Solid extrusion coating compositions for metal substrates, a method of extrusion coating a metal substrate, and a metal article are disclosed. The extrusion coating composition is a thermoplastic material and comprises: (a) a polyester having a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to about 50,000, and optionally, (b) a modifying resin, such as an epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of about 500 to about 15,000. The extrusion coating composition is applied to a metal substrate in an extrusion process to provide a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 40 microns.

    The invention is directed to a method for reducing the chemical activity and photo activity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles comprising adding a densifying agent, such as citric acid, to an aqueous slurry of the titanium dioxide nanoparticles; treating the aqueous slurry with a source of alumina, such as a solution of sodium aluminate, to form alumina- treated titanium dioxide nanoparticles. In one embodiment the particles are treated with a source of silica, such as a solution of sodium silicate. The nanoparticles of this invention can also be treated with a source of silica and a source of alumina. The treated nanoparticles can be silanized. The titanium dioxide nanoparticles described herein are useful in cosmetic, coating and thermoplastic compositions.
