  with Me(3)Al and Et(3)Al, respectively. Reaction of [(eta(1),eta(1)-3,5-tBu(2)pz)(mu-Al)H(2)](2) with the pyrazole H[3,5-tBu(2)pz] gave [(eta(2)-3,5-tBu(2)pz)(3)Al] (5). The reaction of [(eta(1),eta(1)-3,5-tBu(2)pz)(mu-Al)R(2)](2) (R = H, Me) and I(2) yielded 4, while the reaction of 1 equiv of K[3,5-tBu(2)pz] and AlCl(3) afforded 3.   From metathesis reactions between AlCl3, SnMe3Cl, or GePh3Br and the appropriate potassium 3,5-disubstituted pyrazolate [K(R2pz)] the complexes [Al(Bu t 2pz)3], [SnMe3(Ph2pz)], [SnMe3(Bu t 2pz)], and [GePh3(Bu t 2pz)] have been obtained. The X-ray structure of [Al(Bu t 2pz)3] shows the complex to be monomeric with η2 -pyrazolate groups, in a quasi-trigonal prismatic array: the first monomeric homoleptic tris(pyrazolato) complex of any element. X-Ray structures of [SnMe3(Ph2pz)] and [GePh3(Bu t 2pz)] reveal mononuclear species with distorted tetrahedral stereochemistries and η1 -pyrazolate groups. Comparisons of spectroscopic data between [SnMe3(Ph2pz)] and [SnMe3(Bu t 2pz)] suggest the latter is also four-coordinate with an η1 -Bu t 2pz ligand.

  A redox transmetallation/ligand exchange reaction between Al metal, Hg(C6F5)(2) and 3,5-di-tert-butyl-pyrazole (tBu(2)pzH) in tetrahydrofuran (thf) yields [Al(tBu(2)pz)(3)(thf)] in which the six coordinate aluminium atom has two eta(2)- and one eta(1)-tBu(2)pz ligands. By contrast an analogous reaction in 1,2-dimethoxyethane (dme) gives the organoaluminium complex [Al-2(tBu(2)pz)(3)(C6F5)(2)(OCH2CH2OCH3)] in which each aluminium atom has an eta(2)-pyrazolate and a C6F5 ligand and the Al atoms are bridged by an eta(1):eta(1)-tBu(2)pz ligand and a 2-methoxyethoxide ligand.
