A basic, ester functionalized, imidazolium based ionic liquid (IL2), 3-Methyl-1-(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)imidazolium hydroxide was designed eyeing in situ generation and stabilization of palladiumnanoparticles for palladium catalyzed Heck reaction of haloarenes and olefins. This phosphine-free Pd-IL catalyst demonstrated excellent activity and reusability at relatively low reaction temperature (80 °C)

imidazolium cations with varied hydrophobicities have been conjugated with DFO. The iron binding abilities and the antioxidant properties of the conjugates were found to be similar to DFO. The degree of cellular internalization was much higher in the octyl-imidazolium-DFO conjugate (IV) compared with DFO, and IV was able to chelate LPI in vitro. This opens up a new avenue in using N-alkyl imidazolium

Abstract Microwave‐promoted reaction of 1,3‐disubstituted imidazolium salts with potassium thioacetate or potassium thiocyanate under solvent‐free conditions provided a rapid and efficient synthesis of 1,3‐disubstituted imidazole‐2‐thiones.
