Liquid-phase chlorination of a number of chloro(chlorovinyl)methylsilanes was investigated. A number of novelC-chlorosilanes were characterized by IR and1HNMRspectra. Some regularities of these reactions were determined; correlations between the structure of chloro(chlorovinyl)methylsilanes and their reactivities were identified.

13 alkyl- and silylethylenes have been synthesized to determine their vertical ionization energies, characteristic IR frequencies, 1H NMR signals, π → π* electronic transitions, halfwave reduction potentials and ESR spin densities of their radical anions.
