Nickel‐catalyzed intermolecular Heckreaction of cycloalkenes proceeds well with aryl triflates, mesylates and tosylates in excellent enantiomeric ratios. The asymmetric reductive Heckreaction also works with a 2‐cyclopentenone ketal, which is equivalent to conjugate arylation of the enone itself.
The present invention is a method for producing an aromatic compound by substituting the sulfonic acid group in a sulfonic acid aromatic-ester with a hydrogen atom in the presence of a platinum group metal catalyst, wherein an alkali metal carboxylate and/or an ammonium formate are made to coexist in the system. According to the present invention, an aromatic compound where the sulfonic acid group in a sulfonic acid aromatic-ester is substituted with a hydrogen atom, can be produced efficiently with good operability without using metal magnesium.
Pd-catalyzed arylation or benzylation of nitroazoles using aryl sulfonates or benzyl acetates is described. Electronically varied aryl tosylates and mesylates, as well as benzyl acetates, afford the arylated and benzylated products. Arylation of nitrobenzene is also reported. The relative rate for the arylation of halides is greater than that of tosylates using the reported reaction parameters. These studies enhance the scope of electrophiles for nitroarene arylations and benzylations, which was hitherto limited to the use of halide electrophiles.
