Prebiotic sugars: An investigation of carbonyl migration and epimerization, proceeding down the entire carbon chain of tetrose sugars (d-erythrose and d-threose) in aqueous media, and ultimately leading to a mixture of d-erythrulose, rac-erythrulose and rac-tetroses arising from the above reactions, is presented in this study.
