Brønsted acidic ionic liquids with different type of cations (pyridinium, morpholinium, pyrrolidinium, imidazolium), N-sulfoalkyl chain length and different anions (triflate, hydrogensulfate and tetrafluoroborate) were prepared and immobilised on silica by adsorption.
